Mississippi River

Inland Port Complex
A powerful energy and transportation hub

Watch Video

A collaborative effort involving the State of Mississippi, the City of Vicksburg, Warren County, and Entergy Mississippi, the Mississippi River Inland Port Complex offers 1,238 acres of industrially zoned land safeguarded by levees. It boasts direct access to the Mississippi River, strategic transportation routes, and a robust array of utility capabilities.

Levee Design

A robust 31,000 linear feet levee is designed to safeguard 1,238 acres of permitted industrial sites. Positioned at an elevation of 107, the crest of the levee ensures an extra 6 feet of protection above the flood level.

Port Basin

A pivotal component of the development, a new port basin (3,000 ft length x 700 ft width) will provide direct access to the Mississippi River with adaptable space for barge operations, cargo handling, and maneuvers. A minimum of 50 barges of typical size could be fleeted/stored in the basin.

Time Table

404 and 408 environmental permits from the U.S. Army Corps. of Engineers have been obtained and final construction design plans are on schedule to be finalized by June of 2024. The levee will be constructed first followed by the construction of the port basin.

Permitting

The Warren County Port Commission applied in April of 2022 for section 408 and 404 permits with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Both permits were approved by January of 2024. The Commission also applied for a stormwater pollution prevention permit from the Mississippi Department of Transportation which was approved in March of 2023.
